Who we are
This policy explains how Pretty Big Monster, LLC (“Pretty Big Monster”, “PBM”, “we”, “us”) collects and uses personal information when you visit prettybigmonster.com (the “Site”) or contact us. Pretty Big Monster is part of the UNFOLD Agency group.
Pretty Big Monster, LLC is the controller of your personal information for the purposes of this policy.
Contact: hello@prettybigmonster.com
Address: Pretty Big Monster, LLC, 11801 Teale St, Culver City, CA 90230, USA
Information we collect
We collect very little personal information through the Site.
- When you email us. If you write to hello@prettybigmonster.com or another PBM address, we receive your name, email address, and anything you include in your message, such as your company, project details or attachments.
- Analytics. If you are in the UK, the European Economic Area (EEA) or Switzerland, Google Analytics runs only if you accept analytics cookies. Elsewhere, it runs by default and you can switch it off at any time through “Cookie settings”. When it runs, Google Analytics collects information about your visit: pages viewed, time on page, how you arrived (for example a search engine or link), approximate location (city or country, derived from your IP address), device type, browser and operating system. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store full IP addresses.
- Basic technical data. Our hosting and content delivery providers automatically process technical data needed to deliver the Site securely, such as your IP address, browser type and request times, in server logs.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for targeted advertising.
How we use it
We use your information for the purposes below. For visitors in the UK or EU, the table also lists the legal basis for each.
| Purpose | Information used | Legal basis (UK/EU) |
|---|---|---|
| Reply to your enquiry and discuss potential work | Name, email, message content | Legitimate interests (responding to people who contact us); or steps before entering a contract |
| Understand how the Site is used and improve it | Google Analytics data | Consent |
| Deliver the Site and keep it secure | Technical and log data | Legitimate interests (operating a secure website) |
| Comply with legal obligations and defend legal claims | Any of the above, as needed | Legal obligation; legitimate interests |
Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time through “Cookie settings” in the Site footer. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that happened before you withdrew it.
Who we share it with
We share personal information only with service providers that help us run the Site and our business, and only as needed:
- Google LLC provides Google Analytics and acts as our processor for analytics data.
- Hosting and content delivery providers (Vercel; Amazon Web Services for CloudFront) host and deliver the Site.
- Google Workspace (Google LLC) hosts our email and the enquiries you send us.
- UNFOLD Agency group companies may receive enquiries where they are relevant to work delivered across the group.
- Professional advisers and authorities where required by law or needed to protect our rights.
International transfers. We are based in the United States, and our service providers may process data in the US and other countries. If you are in the UK or EU, we transfer your information to the US relying on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and its UK Extension where the recipient is certified (Google is), or on the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses and the UK International Data Transfer Addendum.
How long we keep it
- Enquiry emails: for as long as needed to handle your enquiry and any resulting relationship, and generally no longer than 3 years after our last contact, unless we need them longer for legal or accounting reasons.
- Google Analytics data: user-level data is kept for 14 months, then deleted automatically. Aggregated reports that don’t identify you may be kept longer.
- Server logs: kept for a short period by our hosting providers, typically 30 to 90 days.
Cookies
We use a small number of cookies. Strictly necessary cookies are set without consent because the Site needs them to work. In the UK, EEA and Switzerland, analytics cookies are only set if you accept them. Elsewhere, they are set by default and removed if you reject them.
Cookies are small text files a website stores on your device. They can be set by us (first-party) or by another company (third-party).
| Cookie | Provider | Type | Purpose | Expires |
|---|---|---|---|---|
cc_cookie | Pretty Big Monster | Strictly necessary | Remembers your cookie choices so we don’t ask again on every visit | 6 months |
_ga | Google Analytics | Analytics | Distinguishes unique visitors with a random ID | 2 years |
_ga_<container-id> | Google Analytics | Analytics | Keeps track of your session state | 2 years |
How Google uses this data. Google Analytics is a web analytics service provided by Google LLC. Google processes the data on our behalf to produce usage reports. To learn more, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services and Google’s Privacy Policy.
Google Consent Mode. We use Google Consent Mode. In the UK, EEA and Switzerland, no Google Analytics cookies are set on your device until you accept analytics cookies. Before consent, Google may receive limited, cookieless signals (such as the fact that a page was loaded) that do not identify you.
Changing your choice. You can change or withdraw your consent at any time by clicking “Cookie settings” in the footer of any page. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Links to other sites. Our Site links to LinkedIn and Instagram. Those sites have their own privacy and cookie policies, which apply when you visit them.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- access the personal information we hold about you and get a copy of it
- correct information that is inaccurate
- have your information deleted
- object to, or ask us to restrict, how we use it
- receive your information in a portable format
- withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on consent
To use any of these rights, email hello@prettybigmonster.com. We may need to verify your identity, and we will respond within the time the law requires (usually one month in the UK/EU, 45 days in California).
UK and EU residents can also complain to their data protection authority. In the UK that is the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk). If you have a concern, please contact us first so we can try to resolve it.
California residents. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, as those terms are defined under California law. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.
Security, children and changes
Security. We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal information, including encrypted (HTTPS) connections to the Site and access controls on our systems. However, no website or email system is completely secure.
Children. The Site is intended for businesses and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy. We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date at the top of this page, and if the changes are significant, we will make that clear on the Site.
